Qualifications and Experience.

An independent investigator and lecturer working in the fields of Forensic Computing and Network Investigations.

Holds a first class honours degree in Computer Studies awarded by the University of Leicester, and an HNC with distinction in Business Computing.

Is a lecturer recognised by Senate to Masters Degree level for Cranfield University, and lectures regularly on the subjects of Network and Internet investigations and Forensic Computing at the Cranfield University campus located within the Royal Military College of Science, Shrivenham, Wiltshire.

Also lectures on Forensic Computing at the National Specialist Law Enforcement Centre, Wyboston, Cambridgeshire, and for a variety of other organisations and agencies in the UK and Europe.

Member of the British Computer Society with Chartered IT Professional status.

Registered Forensic Practitioner with the CRFP (Council for the Registration of Forensic Practitioners) in the field of Forensic Computing also one of the two Lead Assessors appointed by the CRFP to oversee the registration and assessment of other practitioners in this field throughout the United Kingdom.

EnCase Certified Examiner. EnCase is a suite of forensic computing and examination tools marketed by Guidance Software International of Pasadena, California. It is currently the most widely used forensic computing software in the United Kingdom. On behalf of Guidance Software has in the past trained many other forensic computing analysts in the use of EnCase, especially on advanced and expert series courses.

Has also been trained in the use of the Forensic Toolkit (FTK) forensic tool made and supplied by Access Data Corporation of Lindon, Utah.

Has been the Chair of a national forum, the First Forensic Forum, which is a teaching/networking organisation for forensic computing practitioners. Membership of the organisation is open to those who receive instructions from either defence or prosecution agencies, and includes representatives of almost every Police Force in the United Kingdom, HM Revenue and Excise, the Serious Fraud Office, a number of military and other governmental agencies, and many commercial companies operating in the field of computers, computer security, telecommunications, forensic computing, etc.

Has over 21 years experience in the fields of computing, and over 15 years in the specific fields of Forensic Computing and Internet and Network investigations. Is familiar with a wide range of computer platforms, operating systems, network operating systems and software.

Has received instructions from, and acted as an expert witness for, both the prosecution and the defence in various recent criminal cases, and has also received instructions to act in a similar role in the context of the civil courts.

Was a police officer with Northamptonshire Police for over 25 years, and for the last twelve years of service was their principal Forensic Computing Examiner and latterly their Network Investigator. Retired from Northamptonshire Police in September, 2004. At the time of retirement service record was certified by Northamptonshire Police as having been exemplary.

Qualified as a Police Financial Investigator in 1993. Computer evidence which has been given has never been discredited, either in whole or in part, in any court of law.
